Thomas Townsend: Trade Proposal Backlash

Zary can be interesting but from what I understand he's a potent sniper with lacking speed. Seeing how Jarmo has gone after guys like Texier and Foudy he must be looking for raw speed, then develop a scoring ability .

If Zary is available at 21 I’d prefer to keep that pick and try to package players and maybe future draft picks. Zary may work out very well for CBJ.
It would be interesting to see if Stamkos and Foligno could be buddies.

Do you want Saad back? Hawks won't be a contender for a couple more years and Should be worth that pick of yours (not like its a top 10).

Just a thought.

What would it take to get Wennberg? What does his contract look like?

Depending on who I think will be available at #21, and if I can't move up in the draft, I'd look to use it as a trade piece on a young (less than 25 y.o) top-3 winger.
Getting a known asset, one with term - or under contract control - is better than drafting a player that's crap-shoot 2-3 years down the road.

I feel we have enough pieces to make 2 significant trades without tearing up the core.
Anderson (rights - or sign & trade); two of Savard/Murray/ Nutivarra/Kukan/Carlsson; Wennberg (with retained salary); Korpi or Elvis (preferably keep Elvis); one of Bemstrom/Foudy/Texier; 2020 1st rnd.

Might sound a little drastic - but you gotta shake things up a little.

Either this year's 3rd or next year's 2nd, and we'll retain 30% of salary.

Hasn't it been well proven that developing a scoring ability is much more difficult than improving the quality of someone's skating?

Isn't that the approach taken by many teams that meant they missed out on drafting Point?

I know . . . I know !! I don't understand why that's leaked, or even outwardly discussed, and craps on any trade leverage for him.

The advantage of trading for him is that he'd be yours exclusively. If you wait until buyout, he's looking for the best deal/team . . . may - or may not - be you !! I think there'd be several teams interested in picking him up.

Virtanen can't score like Anderson and we have enough physical bottom six forwards as is. Next question.

Seriously, how did JK get an extra pick (3rd rounder at that)? Both RFA's correct?

Well if you were able too get Domi & a 3rd and pick for Josh Andersen, would you like Pavel Buchnevich for Alexander Wennberg straight up? You need people to score too!
